CREATE BERLIN and DMY Berlin present from 22 - 27 April: „MADE IN BERLIN 2009“ - product design from Berlin at the international furniture fair in Milan
Premiere in Milan's Zona Tortona: Six internationally active Berlin design offices reveal brand new projects to the Milanese audience. After the great success of the Berlin Design Dome in 2008, the creative hub Berlin presents itself for the second time in Milan with its finest product design. COORDINATION, E27,ett la benn, llot llov, Werner Aisslinger and Zeitgeist Toys are the six studios on show. In the joint exhibition “Made in Berlin 2009" the studios are presenting their latest work and prototypes. On the lookout for press, partners and producers the six are coming to Milan to find a dialogue with the international audience. Exhibits range from porcelain toys, vases, chairs, shelving systems to lights and mobiles. Among the 25+ products for home and office, some have been developed in close cooperation with companies such as KPM Porcelain, Lábbate or MAWA Lights, but
most are independently developed projects with the studios diverse views on contemporary product design. The exciting and young mix of products will be showcased in a freshly built loft: MADE IN BERLIN 09 which will deliver the most creative ideas on 125m2 in Via Bugatti 13.
Since the show was designed and organized as a group effort by the exhibiting designers, partners of all studios will be present during the fuorisalone, and especially want to cordially invite all visitors to the party on April 23rd. This fresh look into the creativity of Berlin is presented by CREATE BERLIN, the Berlin designer's network in cooperation with DMY Berlin, the participating studios are all members of CREATE BERLIN. Ares Kalandides, Board Member of Create Berlin, explains the background of this event: “CREATE BERLIN and DMY Berlin provided the supporting infrastructure of the exhibition, wheras the contents as well as the organization and realization of “Made in Berlin 2009" are developed by the designers themselves. We are happy to have been able to give a good impetus with the exhibition last year, which led to a very wide support among the members. Our project manager Martina Zeyen will support the team on site and I will be present in Milan myself."
“Made in Berlin 2009 is supported by the Brandcenter Mercedes Benz Milano S.p.A., which will stage an additional show of "Made in Berlin" within their showroom in Via Gallarate 450, extending the exhibition to the Northeast of the city with projects of all offices from present and previous years. After the premiere in Milan, the exhibition “Made in Berlin 2009" will also be on show during the DMY Festival in Berlin, from 3 - 7 June 2009. Drinks are sponsored by Veltins.
Catalogue Berlin/Milano #2:
Accompanying the exhibition, DMY Berlin and CREATE BERLIN present the catalogue Berlin/Milano #2, concentrating all exhibitions from Berlin designers during the week of Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone into one single publication. More than 20 product presentations of prototypes and products of emerging as well as established designers provide a good overview over Berlin's creative power in product design. The Catalogue functions as a smart tour guide to the various exhibitions in Milan as well as a souvenir.
